Uncle Eddies Vegan Cookies Announces Recall of Uncle Eddies Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate-Chip Cookies Because of Possible Health Risk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- January 28, 2009 – Glendale, California based Uncle Eddies Vegan Cookies announced today a voluntary recall of Uncle Eddies Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate-Chip Cookies as a precautionary measure due to the expanded recall of Peanut Corporation of America's Blakely, Georgia facility, which is the subject of an FDA investigation concerning the recent salmonella outbreak.

The recalled cookies contain peanut butter supplied by Peanut Corporation of America. There are no reported illnesses associated with these peanut butter cookies, which are sold at health food, and grocery stores nationwide. Included in the recall are:

Uncle Eddies Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate-Chip Cookies

12 oz. Bag (UPC 40559 03302)
3.75 oz. individually wrapped (UPC 40559 03305)
Recalled date codes include the code for peanut butter, 2 and a Julian date.
Example: 21509 is read as the 15th day of 2009.
Recalled dates are: 221408 thru and including 21509 (READ AS THE 214TH DAY OF 2008 THRU AND INCLUDING THE 15TH DAY OF 2009.)

No other Uncle Eddies Vegan cookies are included in the recall.
