Lawrence’s Delights Issues Allergy Alert for Walnut Baklava Containing Undeclared Peanuts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Atlanta, Ga. -- April 3, 2009 --- Lawrence's Delights, Atlanta, Ga is recalling its 2 oz walnut Baklava because it may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious of life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled walnut Baklavas were distributed at Whole Foods Retail Stores in the following states (MA, RI, and CT).

The product comes in 2 ounce clear plastic containers (Bar code: 2 065185018 9). The new product will have under the ingredient list the following statement "This product contains trees nuts, pine nuts and peanuts".

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. There was one consumer complaint that resulted in an allergic reaction.

Production of the product has been suspended until FDA and L & D are certain that the problem has been corrected.
