FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE --Northfield, IL -- March 31, 2009 -- Kraft Foods announced today a voluntary recall in the United States of Planters and Back to Nature products containing pistachio nuts that have the potential to be contaminated with the Salmonella organism. This possible contamination is not connected with the recent outbreak associated with peanuts.
The company is recalling all products containing pistachios supplied by Setton Farms after September 1, 2008. Setton Farms issued a recall late yesterday.

A high proportion of those who have become sick had eaten at Asian restaurants which had been found by health specialists to have used the peppers.
The products recalled do not bear lot codes and were sold primarily to distributors and restaurants in California and Oregon. The products are packaged under the Lian How brand name (red label) in various large-sized containers.
The following products are included in the recall: white pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, chopped onion, onion powder, garlic (chopped, minced, powder and granulated), whole white pepper, whole black pepper, curry powder, mustard powder and wasabi powder.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- February 27, 2009 -- Marron Foods, a Durand, WI. company is voluntarily recalling approximately 140 cases of Non Fat Dry Milk that may contain a piece of metal that came off the packaging equipment which was discovered as part of regular maintenance.
Swallowing fragments of metal may constitute a choking hazard.
Product was distributed in Safeway Food stores nationally.
