Country Aire Inc Recalls Raw Redskin Peanuts Because Of Possible Health Risk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Port Angeles, WA -- April 1, 2009 --- Country Aire INC of Port Angeles, WA is recalling Raw Redskin Peanuts, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The Raw Redskin Peanuts were manufactured using peanut products recalled by Peanut Corporation of American because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Raw Redskin Peanuts were distributed by the Nut Factory of Greenacres, WA and sold at Country Aire INC, 117 East First ST, Port Angeles, WA 98362 from December 28, 2007 to March 12, 2009.

This product was repackaged into zip-lock bags in various quantities of less than a pound and does not contain lot codes or UPC code information. Each bag was labeled with a scale label with the price per pound, weight, total price, and the name “Country Aire.”
